President’s Welcome Letter
رَبَّنَا آَتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
O’Allah! We seek Your Mercy and Guidance in conducting our affairs.
Brothers & Sisters:
Assalam-u-Alaikum!
I am grateful to Allah SWT and feel humbled to have the opportunity to serve this year as President of the Islamic Council of New England. Indeed, serving the New England Muslim community is a solemn commitment and great responsibility for which I seek your support and du’a to be able to rise to the challenges of this office. The Council has a wealth of dedicated people with intellectual talent, wisdom and experience that uniquely qualifies this body to serve as a platform for the regional Muslim organizations and fulfill its mission of promoting the social and moral wellbeing of the society. Together, as we move forward with commitment and determination, we can, insha’Allah, make significant progress in achieving our goals during the current year. I am reminded of Hellen Keller who once said: “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Let’s join hands and work together for the pleasure of Allah SWT and the betterment of our communities.
We will be working on a number of new programs during this year, such as expanding the youth activities sponsored by the Council and revitalizing the Shura Committee, re-named as Religious Affair and Advisement Committee, with its revised scope of overseeing the religious matters. We will undertake the task of giving a new look to our website islamiccouncilne.org as well and make it more informative for the New England Muslim Community.
Over the next year, the Council Board will continue to expand membership, advocate for the reinstatement of the Interfaith and Intra-faith dialogues, and emphasize the importance of unity across the board, as it matters so much to our survival, strength, and values. It’s imperative that we reach out to as many Islamic Centers as possible and bring them under the umbrella of the Council in the interest of our common cause of serving humanity. In order to achieve this overriding goal, your support and involvement would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested to participate in this effort, please contact any BOD members.
Finally, I would like to welcome our new board member, Dr. Dris Djermoun, the President- Elect 02016.
I look forward to witnessing another productive and successful year for the Council, packed with communication, coordination, and collaboration across its constituents.
May Allah SWT grant us the vision and wisdom to lead the New England Muslim community
