President’s Welcome Letter 2017

President’s Welcome Letter, 2017

رَبَّنَا آَتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

O’Allah! We seek Your Mercy and Guidance in conducting our affairs

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Assalamu-Alykum,

I am grateful to God, SWT to be given this opportunity to serve this year as the President of the Islamic Council of New England. Serving the New England Muslim community is an important commitment and great responsibility for which I seek your support to meet the challenges of this office. The Council has a wealth of dedicated people with intellectual talent, wisdom and experience that uniquely qualifies this body to serve as a platform for regional Muslim organizations, and fulfill its mission of promoting the social and moral wellbeing of society. Together, as we move forward with commitment and dedication, we can, insha’Allah, make significant progress in achieving our goals. Let’s work together for the pleasure of God, SWT and the betterment of our communities.
Our objectives are to promote the spirit of unity and solidarity among Muslims; to undertake any matters that American Muslims care about; to take practical steps to advance and ensure the progress and security of Muslims in New England; to educate non-Muslims about Islam and Muslims in America and to correct any false information and to foster and promote social contacts and cooperation among Muslims and Islamic organizations, and between Muslims and people of other faiths.
Over the next year, the Council will continue to expand membership, advocate for more Interfaith and Intra-faith dialogues, support more youth programs especially for inner-city youth, and reach out to many Masajid and Islamic organizations by reviving the outreach efforts to bring them under the umbrella of the Council in the interest of our common cause of serving humanity.
This year in particular, the American Muslim community will be facing even greater challenges. I believe the Islamic Council of New England can help the Muslim community in a positive and productive way InshaAllah. May Allah SWT help us and grant us the vision and wisdom, Ameen
Jazakum Allahu Khayrun,

Fatma Wahdan Antar, President
Islamic Council of New England
