Islamic Council of New England Statement on New Zealand Attacks, March 15, 2019

The Islamic Council of New England expresses its heartfelt condolences and prayers with the victims of the horrific attack which took place in Christchurch, New Zealand during the Friday Congregation. March 15 is no doubt a dark and painful day for Muslims and humanity at Large.

This is a terrorist attack on innocent defenseless Muslims in their own Mosques. The Islamic Council of New England condemns all acts of violence against innocent civilians, committed in the name of religion or any ideology.

We appreciate the messages of support that the Council and Islamic Centers received from various interfaith groups, civic leaders, and law enforcement officials, and we thank their leadership for their stand with us during this difficult time.

Such an outpouring of spontaneous solidarity and support, despite the sadness and enormity of the heinous act, is an exhilarating experience for the Muslim community that wishes to extend its gratitude to all our fellow citizens for their overwhelming outreach.

May Allah, the Almighty, grant us all patience and strength.

May peace be with you.
