Topic: How do we maintain the piety and righteousness attained during the month of Ramadan.
By the grace of Allah, we have all witnessed the blessings of the month of Ramadan from the way Muslim all over the world have engaged in acts of worship, piety, righteousness and God consciousness. Soon our body and our desires would start making demands on us for gratification and indulgence.
During Ramadan, because of the blessing that is inherent in the month, we were able to overcome these desires and put them in their rightful place. To do the same outside Ramanda, we must model qualities and characteristics of the God conscious that are taught to us in the Quran. There are many such verses, but because of limited time and space, we will just reflect on two such verses.
The first verse is the one that calls on believers to be conscious of Allah as He rightfully should be feared and call on them not die except in a state of full submission to Allah.
“O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims (in submission to Him). Notice how the verses expect the Taqwa not to be temporary but rather expect the coconsciousness and piety to last until one meets death (3:102).“ The verse teaches us to have a long term perspective of life as opposed to short term.
In the second verse Allah promises great reward to those who have Taqwa in terms of opening a way out for them from their difficulty and promises to provide for them from (sources ) that they could have never imagined. “And whoever fears Allah, – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect”…(65: 2-3).
