“In the name of Allah, the most Merciful and Most Compassionate.
The Islamic Council of New England is distressed by the escalating conflict in the Middle East after the unwarranted attacks on Iran on Saturday, February 28, 2026, during the holy month of Ramadan. This holy month specifically is a time of inward reflection for all Muslims. Attacks during the month of Ramadan are an anathema to the objectives of seeking inner peace.
There are already numerous civilian casualties. We pray Allah will compensate the innocent victims with a place in Paradise. No justification exists for targeting civilians in any conflict.
The unprovoked attacks on Iran have engendered further responses. Continuing exchanges between hostile parties will only cause more hardship on innocent civilians. The conflict has already touched targets in numerous countries in the region, with many more at risk. Perpetual retaliation will just augment the fomented enmity. Conscious efforts for peace are needed now.
We are reminded once again by the verse in the Quran (5:32), “Whoever takes a life unjustly is as if they have killed all humanity.” We call on the immediate halt to hostilities to obviate further harm to our brothers and sisters in the Middle East. We take heed from the continuation of the same verse, “And whoever saves a life is as if they have saved all humanity.”
We pray all parties will thus restrain themselves from further conflict and find a way to peaceful resolution. We pray all the world’s leaders will exert their influence on the combatants to cease and desist. May Allah accept our prayers in this holy month of Ramadan.
The Islamic Council of New England calls on all its members to demand their elected representatives use every power in their hands to end this unauthorized conflict.
